A few recording from overnight in Waterford, conditions cold (frost) and very clear, calm.

Regular local birds as on most nights include Grey Heron, Water Rail, Snipe and more recently Moorhen but a Wigeon was new to me (open to correction on this but it looks good on the sonogram). Also something that might have been an Long eared Owl, but the gap between notes looks very short, so it could be something else.....and lastly, a wader that might be Black tailed Godwit, but far from sure on this one ...

(edit: I cant see to add more than one attachment to each post...??)

Hi Paul,

For me, these are wingbeats rather than an actual call.

Cheers.

Wing-beats for sure. I usually put these down as duck sp, but I wonder with some (nerdy) work, recording ducks in flight would it be possible to ID some species? I know goldeneye is really distinctive for one...

I've no reason to believe there are Long eared Owls around me, but this may be one..............or maybe not !

As we have already discussed, I can't get beyond Oystercatcher for that sequence of calls. Interested to hear what others think.

Cheers.

Hi lads,

Sorry for the delay. This is an oystercatcher for sure.
